You will begin with only Inuyasha and Kagome to choose from. As you collect the Shards Of The Shikon Jewel there will be more characters will be unlocked. Three types of battles and three different mini games can happen in this mode:

One on One One on Two (Player against two comp opponents) Two on One (Player controls two against one comp opponent)

You will start on a map of the area. You can explore freely except for Naraku's Fortress that has a Miasma barrier around it. Or if you are playing as Naraku, then the Sacred Mountain Place will have a protective Barrier around it. They will become accessible once all characters on the map have been defeated. Pressing start allows you to see how many Jewel shards are still available to collect this time through the game.

Characters: When a character is at a location this means you must battle them here.

Characters With Light: The character you must face hold shards of the Shikon Jewel.

White Light: means there are shards here but if you will face an opponent or play a mini game is unknown.

Blue Light: A character with purified jewel shards.

Red Light: A character with cursed jewel shards.

Barriers: Barriers block access from locations. This block will be lifted when all opponents are defeated.

There are three types of attributes to the Jewels: Cursed(red), Neutral(purple), and Purified(blue). Depending what character you are you won't be able to pick up certain Shards right away.

This is the normal Vs. mode. You can either battle the comp or another person. The different locations must be unlocked before you can access them.

Tag Team Vs. mode. You can either be on the same team or against each other. Otherwise the same as Vs. Fairy Tale.

The practice area. You can learn the basic controls to advanced controls and learn all the moves here. Not much different from any other fighting game practice mode.

This is the settings menu. Not much to explain here. Just set up the game to your preference.

Kagome's Backpack has a lot of extra little stuff. You can go in and set records for the mini games, listen to music, change what the characters say in battle, and look at art from the game. Some of the art has to be unlocked as well as mini games and characters before you can change what they say and who they say it too.
